We caught some shit because we were probably a little bit above the skill level for the team division and that was true. (We submitted our roster with no changes the day they asked. If they felt like we were too good they could have said no.) You can take the trophy back, it’s not about that. It’s about spending four days with your friends who have been playing together for over a decade. Nobody is going to remember the results of the tournament they are going to remember the time our D men played forward, watching @kprtn stand on his head, Corey ripping, college night at the @dublinpubpdx, Shrek, beers, minions, and @mckinleypfahl being stuck at an airport for a month. It’s never about the results it’s about the hang, some people like the captain of the plugs need to learn that. Beer league isn’t about being the biggest dicks on the ice but the best guys off it.

Our next tournament is local, and we are giving up

Our next tournament is local, and we are giving up our holiday break and sacrificing hours from our families during these key holiday times in an attempt to avoid embarrassment.

There is not much recovery time between games, so there won't be any on-ice time between games to sort out the power play or penalty kill. Just some video review, chalk talk, and a focus on recovery or just drinking beer. Whatever, it is all the same.

Seven years ago our first “away” tournament. W

Seven years ago our first “away” tournament. We had two goalies drop out before the start of the tournament and multiple players. So we skated short in the finals and picked up a random local goalie who told us he had just started playing. The goalie also told us that the new Panda Express was the best place to eat in Medford.

In the finals the other team started playing extremely chippy and at one point their captain skated over to me and said “I know this is for money but we need to tone it down”. Apparently you got your tournament fee back as prize money if you won, which we didn’t know.

We went on to win and used the money as a down payment on our first set of Little Cuties jerseys.
